The Philippine Transporation system will be improved and aside from trains and new roads. there are also other transportation project proposals in President Rodrigo Duterte’s ambitious plan “Build, Build, Build” program, which launched from the last administration’s drafts.

The proposals have begins to accepting from the private sector in 2017 to speed up infrastructure activities this year by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade

Sangley Airport

This is a new regional airport hub with the rehabilitation of the current Danilo Atienza Air Base in Cavite

Status: Still accepting proposals

Current proposals:

  1. The Sangley Airport Infrastructure Group Inc. offered to spend $12 billion and reclaim some 2,500 hectares of land north of the Sangley peninsula this last March,
  2. The Cavite provincial government countered the proposal and offer a lesser $9 billion cost.

Clark International Airport

Clark International airport is becoming the second major gateway to the Philippines next to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. This redevelopment is a project of government firm (BCDA) Bases Conversion and Development Authority.

Status: The contract to build this airport was given to the GMR-Megawide consortium. The design and planning of the new aiport termanl was entrusted to Budji-Royal inspired by modern Filipino characteristics and the Sierra Madre mountain range.

Status: Still accepting proposals

Current proposals:

  1. Megawide Construction Corp. has offered to spend P160 billion in a proposal to the government. They are the company behind the ongoing upgrade of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and Indian-based GMR Infrastructure Ltd.
  2. super-consortium comprising of seven large conglomerates offered to spend P350 billion.

Cebu City bus system

Status: The new Bus Rapid Transit system project is put on-hold for further review of a technical service consultant from (NEDA) National Economic and Development Authority- Investment Coordination Cabinet Committee.

Makati-BGC Skytrain

A 2-KM cable-propelled train system to connect Uptown bonifacio at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig and the MRT Guadalupe station in Makati.

Bulacan Airport

The planned international airport hub in Bulacan was a proposal by San Miguel Corp. The conglomerate’s “aerotropolis” proposal involves the construction of a terminal, parallel runways and an airport toll road.

This whole project will cover around 2,500 hectares of which 1,168 hectares will be allotted the main airport complex, while the remaining 1,332 hectares is plan to developed into a township.

Status:  This proposal from San Miguel Corp. worth P700 billion was approved by the National Economic Development Authority(NEDA) , but the project will still undergo to a final review.

Mega-Manila Subway

A 25-kilometer underground massive transportation system that will connect major business districts in Metro Manila to help decongest traffic in metro manila.

From When in Manila

Status: Construction of the first phase of the plan is running from Mindanao Ave. in Quezon City through FTI in Taguig and will end at NAIA in Parañaque City. This project is worth P355 billion started last year.

Metro Manila Bus Rapid Transit Systems

Metro manila mass bus transit lanes dedicated for buses along major traffic spots in Metro Manila— this will improve the bus transit system and currently existing from Line 1 project along EDSA, Line 2 on España-Quezon Avenue, and another BRT system from BGC to NAIA

Status: The lines 1 and 2 are on goinig pre-construction stage, while the segment from BGC to NAIA is still under review by the BCDA.
